Hello! I'm Madeleine and Knot Unknot is my textile studio in Edinburgh, Scotland. I knit portraits, sew mathematicians shirts, and use photographs to tell stories - what ever the project at hand requires. The full range of my work covers community art and installations through to small art pieces and fashion accessories. Alba ad Astra is a collection of science fiction writing and images by myself and 7 authors and artists investigating a potential Scottish space programme in the I960s. The graphics created for it by Carmen Moran and myself are featured in the ASTRA collection. In 2002, I was looking into early methods of photographic printing and discovered that I really liked the cyanotype contact printing process. Every summer I create a new batch of images using lace and digital negatives and other objects.
